Description:
Small size, elongated and small-headed appearance, and uniform upperwing with only a very narrow wing-bar. Bill small and mainly dark. Legs yellowish or pinkish. Adult breeding has striking yellow eye-ring. Adult non-breeding and juvenile have more uniform head pattern than Common Ringed with buff forehead and supercilium.
Distribution:
Common passage migrant mainly through the central areas of Gilgit-Baltistan. Mostly prefers sparsely vegetated mountain steppe, mud flats or sandy banks of wetlands, lakes, streams and also grasslands. In the areas occurs up to 3000m.
Behavior:
Sometimes uses foot-trembling. Feeds on dry or moist surface, and occasionally in shallow water. Not especially gregarious, unlike most other smaller plovers. Mainly feeds on insects, including beetles, flies, ants, mayfly and dragonfly larvae and crickets; spiders, shrimps and other invertebrates.
